Prepare soil: remove grass and weeds, till 4–6 inches, grade and rake smooth.

1. Schedule your cut and delivery with the farm.

2. Lay fresh sod promptly along a straight edge; stagger seams and butt edges tightly.

3. Water deeply and immediately so the sod and 2–3 inches of soil below are wet. Keep new sod moist during establishment.

4. Mow after rooting, usually in 2–3 weeks; set the mower high for the first cut.
